Interior Design - Associate in Science

The Associate in Science in Interior Design prepares students for transfer to universities and design institutions, as well as for immediate employment in the design industry. Students develop creative and technical skills in design principles, textiles, materials, and marketing to create and present professional design projects and portfolios. Career opportunities include interior design assistant, showroom or product representative, retail buyer, design consultant, and small business owner.

The pathway below represents an efficient and effective course taking sequence for this program. Individual circumstances might require some changes to this pathway. It is always recommended that you meet with an academic counselor to develop a personalized educational plan.

Apply the principles and elements of design to develop creative, functional, and aesthetic interior environments that address users’ physical, psychological, and cultural needs.

Select and evaluate textiles, materials, finishes, and lighting solutions appropriate for various interior applications based on performance, sustainability, and design intent.

Create and communicate interior design concepts through a variety of visual, digital, and verbal presentation methods to convey professional design solutions effectively.

Demonstrate an understanding of industry standards, building systems, and business practices relevant to interior design, including ethical and sustainable decision-making.
