Animation Foundation - Certificate of Achievement

The Animation Foundation Certificate of Achievement will provide students with a foundation in animation and visual storytelling. Upon completion of this certificate students will demonstrate a solid foundation in the traditional and digital skills and knowledge necessary for creative industries: design foundations, character ideation, 2D and 3D animation, motion graphics, and production. Students will gain a fundamental understanding of industry-standard software. The Animation Foundation Certificate of Achievement provides students with opportunities to develop work to include in professional portfolios, university-required portfolios, and develop skills for entry-level employment in the creative industries.

The pathway below represents an efficient and effective course taking sequence for this program. Individual circumstances might require some changes to this pathway. It is always recommended that you meet with an academic counselor to develop a personalized educational plan.

Plan and storyboard animated sequences for traditional or digital formats.

Design and animate characters and environments for narrative and interactive projects.

Generate multiple character designs and stories in response to a specific concept.

An introduction to the elements, principles, materials and techniques of drawing. Emphasis is placed on the practical skills of observation and their expansion, along with drawing as a form of visual communication.

Course software: Adobe After Effects and Photoshop.
